Thanks for sharing your thoughts on “Octave,” Tyler. I appreciate your insights and close reading. Brigham Young said, “There is no music in hell,” and this poem, in part, grew out of that idea. I’ve reworked this poem quiet a bit since it appeared on amotherhere.com, and now have a version that abandons the Biblical register and embraces a more feminine voice (I hope). I’ll send it your way to see what you think.
